Welcome to KnowledgePanel®

Who we are
Knowledge Networks is a nationally known and respected research company. Our KnowledgePanel is a large group of people who speak for all Americans. Members give us their answers and opinions on important questions. This is done quickly through short surveys they take in their home over the Internet.

Who we are NOT
We are not telemarketers and we do not do telephone surveys with our members. We never try to sell you anything or try to get money from you. Instead, if you are part of KnowledgePanel, we reward you for taking the time to share your opinions with us.

Knowledge Networks does not hire Secret Shoppers.

Why you were called
The only way to quickly know what the entire country thinks is to ask a small sample of people from all walks of life and from every group. We recruit people by using telephone numbers. We also do some special recruiting through the mail from a random list of street addresses.

The "Do Not Call" list

The federal "Do Not Call" list is intended to keep telemarketers from calling you. The government created an exception for research. Otherwise the government would not be able to do its own surveys and research!

For more information on the Federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act visit www.fcc.gov or call 202-418-0200.

How we got your number
Your telephone number was selected at random out of all possible numbers. Because we start with telephone numbers and not names, your number can be included even if it is unlisted. We then call the selected numbers and invite people to join.

If you received a letter invitation
We are currently doing a special national recruitment using a list of randomly selected street addresses. Households at these specific addresses are invited to join KnowledgePanel.

Why surveys are important
There are many researchers in companies, agencies, and universities trying to make important decisions. They use KnowledgePanel as a way to get answers because they know that our members represent the whole country and all different groups.

The members of KnowledgePanel have contributed information to help both big and small decisions. A big decision might be for a government program or policy about climate change. Another kind of decision might be which picture to put on a magazine cover. Some fun decisions that people on KnowledgePanel get to help with include what events get shown every day during the Olympics (while they are happening) and who the nominees are for the People's Choice Awards. We even helped figure out who won the presidential debates in both 2000 and 2004. We have many more examples.

What you do on KnowledgePanel
You take a brief survey on the Internet, about one per week. Surveys typically take about 15 minutes to complete.

What you get
We offer opportunities to earn cash rewards and prizes for completing surveys, and we do all this because we appreciate your time and effort and value you as a member.

Your privacy is protected
We respect your privacy! We never give your name, address or any information that could be used to identify you to anyone else. But even more than that, we only let a select few people inside our company know who you are (because they need to help you on the phone or send you checks). It is also our policy that your identity never appears with any of your survey answers.

Can I sign up my friends and neighbors?
Unfortunately no. Only people we contacted and those who live with them can join KnowledgePanel. People who do not live at the phone number we called cannot join. We're sorry but our scientists are very specific about how we choose panel members.

I used to be a panel member, how do I join again?
We'd love to have you back! Please log in to members.knowledgepanel.com and we'll get you going again! You can also rejoin by emailing us at support@knowledgepanel.com or by calling us at 800-782-6899.

If necessary, we give you Internet access
If you do not have a computer or Internet access, we send you a special piece of equipment that allows you to use the Internet through your television. None of this will cost you anything, plus we pay your monthly Internet fees as long as you remain on KnowledgePanel.

We pay per survey if you have Internet access
If you already have internet access from your home, you earn a small amount of money for each brief survey you take.
